It was Ben’s birthday yesterday – he turned 14. West gave him a magnetic set of the periodic table for his birthday.
We went to the zoo in the morning so he could take lots of photos and try out the extension tubes he got for his birthday (for close up shots – of flowers, not animals :))
In the afternoon we watched Who Framed Roger Rabbit (Ben’s choice) and before dinner we went to the park so he could take bird photos and West could rollerblade.
In the evening he and West went to the school play, each did things with their own friends afterwards and both came home past my bedtime.
Steve is away this weekend enjoying himself at the annual Risk Theory Society meeting. I think he is one of the few non-academics who belong to it (yes, I see their webpage confirms that. I see they describe themselves as a ‘diverse group’ – they must be using a definition of ‘diverse’ I’m not familiar with…). To join (a year ago) he had to write a paper they liked. Unfortunately the annual meeting has coincided with Ben’s birthday twice now but that conflict will be over for the next few years when Ben’s birthday moves off the weekend.
